The end of HD DVD won’t hurt Xbox 360

Xbox 360 won’t suffer from HD DVD war

Now that Toshiba has finally ditched the HD DVD format in an official statement saying that “it will no longer develop, manufacture and market HD DVD players and recorders” this should have impact on some businesses. However, Microsoft announced today that its Xbox 360 game console won’t suffer any material impact.

I find it hard to believe, but Microsoft enforced our thoughts saying that Xbox 360 customers would continue to be able to consume high-definition movies, television programs, and DVDs they already own on the Xbox 360 HD DVD player.

Lets see it done, now that Blu-ray is gonna become king and then we’ll talk.

XBox 360 To Get A New Motherboard Called “Jasper”

The gaming experts, Kotaku, just let go of a rumor on the market, that Microsoft is working on developing a new motherboard for XBox 360 that will use smaller ATI graphics chips, 65nm, and smaller memory chips all of these in the attempt of reducing costs and heat.

Called “Jasper”, the upgrade was announced by Mercury News and should go live somewhere in August 2008. Considering that when XBox 360 upgraded to Falcon motherboards, Microsoft reduced the price by $50, so I wonder if it will be worth it this time because 10 months it’s a lot of time and unless they have a cheaper solution Wii and Sony will take the lead.
