Sony DR-BT140QP - Bluetooth Headphones

Sony DR-BT140QP - Bluetooth Headphones

Sony DR-BT140QP are the new wireless Bluetooth hedphones the company has recently built. These are smart headphones or at least that’s what the $138.89 price tells me and the fact that it support Bluetooth 2.0 and A2DP/AVRCP/HFP/HSP profiles. It has a frequency response of 16Hz-24,000Hz, 30mm in diameter driver unit, a built-in lithium battery for 12 hours of continuous use and should be available in black, pink silver and white from July 25th, when pre-orders start.

I’m not really a fan of Bluetooth headphones and to be honest,  but I’ll have to at least try this one before telling you if it’s good or not. Sony has a brand to defend, so this better be great, not good.

Sony Cyber-Shot W300

Sony Cyber-Shot W300

Living in a fast paced environment has pushed us mere mortals to look for better and compact ways to capture each special moment. Special moments lost - like that day your baby first yawned or that time you won a poker tourney - can’t be replayed and can’t be regenerated. That’s why it’s been a mission of ours to take a look at the last cam tech and give your first dibs on how they look and play.

After seeing Sony H50 released a few days ago there is a new Cyber-Shot on the market, Sony W300, a compact point-and-shoot camera that features a stunning 13.6 megapixel resolution and 3x optical zoom from those Carl Zeiss 2.8 - 5.5 / 7.6 - 22.8 lens.

Other goodies of the new Sony Cyber-Shot W300 include up to ISO 6400, hardware image stabilization, smile detection and automatic scene detection that adjusts the color balance. The price is going to be $300 and the release date is May. I think the specs are very good if you need to keep your camera in your jeans’ pocket and shoot fast as soon as you find something nice.

I’ll try to get my hands on it when it’s going to be available and do a proper review.

Toshiba Puts an End to Format War

Posted Monday, February 18th, 2008 by Mihnea Boiangiu

Blu-Ray vs HD DVDAlthough it’s not official, Toshiba Corp. plans to give up on its HD DVD format for high definition DVDs in favor of Blu-Ray format created by Sony Corp. The format war which reminds of Betamax-VHS battle in the ’80s. Toshiba has lost against Sony when Warner Bros. announced to release high-definition DVDs in Blu-ray format.

The second step in the battle for the high definition DVD format came when Wal-Mart Stores Inc., the giant retailer store, decided to abandon the HD DVD format and only stock its shelves with Blu-ray movies. In addition big players like Best Buy Co Inc and Netflix went for Blu-Ray format. Even the exclusive deal with Microsoft was put in doubt when the software company said it could use Blu-ray technology for its Xbox 360 game console, which currently use HD DVD technology.

The confusing format war is about to end. Sony’s marketing techniques have prevailed against HD DVD format. Toshiba will suffer considerable losses running to hundreds of million dollars. In the end there is a victory for the industry and for the consumers.

PlayStation3 will be $100 cheaper

Posted Thursday, October 18th, 2007 by Mihnea Boiangiu

Sony PS3Sony announced price cuts for PlayStation 3 model. The 40 GB version will retail for $399 while the 80 GB version’s price was also cut with $100. Sony Corp. tries to reinvigorate the sales of their new game console, because the things didn’t go in the right direction. The new prices will be available on November 2 when the new version of the PS3 will come with a 40 GB hard drive for the North American market. Same measures were applied in Europe and Japan, because Sony couldn’t battle with its rivals Microsoft and Nintendo.

Still, the PS3 remains more expensive than the rival game consoles. Its price surpasses with $50 the Xbox 360 and with $150 Nintendo Wii. Nevertheless, Sony have made the move before the Christmas shopping season. Better now than later. And I still prefer the Wii.

Target Store has the 40GB PlayStation3, for $399 - scanner confirms

We have visual confirmation, after seeing a picture from a Target Store price scanner, that the US Playstation 3, the 40GB model that includes Spider-Man will be available from 28th October 2007 for $399.99. If we think that the Spider-Man 3 Blu-ray and DVD disks will be available from October 30th it makes me believe that it’s true. This however, is still a pretty good rumor, because the 40GB PlayStation 3 would make a great gift for the Holidays. Let’s just hope Target is right about that one.

Sony PRS-505 eBook Reader Already For Sale

The official announcement saying that Sony PRS-505 eBook Reader will be available in stores and will ship this month for $300, we have updates on that one. Apparently, and it’s been just a few hours, on their store - SonyStyle - it’s for sale for the exact price of $299.99 in silver or dark blue.Sony PRS-505 is an upgrade for their older 500 model, that brings a better contrast in the new electronic paper display. There are a few things I would appreciate if I were to buy one, like USB sync with the PC, both SD cards and Memory Stick Duo, and those 100 Connect eBook Classic titles plus two lines of engraving which are free when you purchase. So yeah, that makes it a good choice if you have use for it.
