Solar Powered SunTable, Costs $2,200

Posted Thursday, August 7th, 2008 by Alex Ion

I’ll have to be honest and accept that I’m not always going with the trend. Though I think solar power or wind power (or other sustainable alternatives) are going to replace fossil fuels in the near future, I never though we’ll get to see those photovoltaic cells in such places.

That’s the solar powered (weatherproof) SunTable that will cost you $2,200 and should provide up to 150 watts of power and promising a full recharge in just three hours of staying in direct sunlight. As an eco-geek I am, I’d definitely buy one at least to brag to my friends that I won’t pay for electricity to power my laptop or my cellphone.

Would you buy it or you think it’s way over your budget and it wouldn’t be worth having one on the porch?

Green automower by Husqvarna

Husqvarna’s Solar Powered Automower

If you are the green lazy guy that needs an automower Husqvarna has the best gadget for you. It’s a solar powered automower that will do munch grass while you’re at work or relax with a bag of chips in front of the TV. It’s smart enough to program it, has sensors to “work” in a given perimeter and is able to do up to 2,300 square meters.

It uses chargeable batteries that runs for 40 minutes and on a sunny day it goes up to 60 minutes thanks to the solar panels it has. The price is steep. About $4,000 and is only for green wealthy bastards.

Solar-powered Dragonfly to Annoy the Neighbor

Solar-powered Dragonfly to Annoy the Neighbor

We don’t have a category tagged precision but this is where this little electronic insect should be put. It’s a solar-powered dragonfly that was designed by James Watt and thanks to those solar cells it can flap its wings thanks to a pager motor. I don’t know how that guy managed to make it look so real or if it can fly to your neighbor’s front porch and annoy the old guy but I love it.
