Nokia E71 Review

Posted Friday, October 24th, 2008 by Alex Ion

Though announced a while back, the new is the first mobile phone that got a 10 out of 10 rating on TestFreaks. No it’s not perfect, but the features, the price and the design are some key elements to consider buying one. It’s a great cell from so we decided a review of one of their best mobile phones ever and the first with a QWERTY keyboard, was indeed needed.

First of all some specs about it. It’s a quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE mobile phone, that features 3G/3.6 HSDPA, has a 2.36-inch QVGA display (320 x 320), a 3.2 megapixel camera, up to 8GB Micro SD cards, BT, GPS, WiFi and of course a QWERTY keyboard.

PROs

  • the design : is one of the most attractive smart phones or email phones to date, with a certain finesse the metal casing really attracts
  • email : it’s a business oriented mobile phone that allows you to access your personal email on Gmail or Yahoo, and connects to the internet almost everywhere you go via HSDPA (3.5G) or Wi-Fi
  • Wi-Fi scanner : very useful when trying to find a hotspot to log on
  • browser : all pages are displayed in full, supports Flash and YouTube videos and streams audio
  • it runs on the S60 operating system that allows you to download and install all sorts of applications including Google Maps
  • GPS : used with the sat-nav feature from G Maps you can accurately track your location and get directions
  • battery : it last long enough with only one charge, an ideal candidate for those who stress test their mobile phones. also if you don’t use Wi-Fi or HSDPA you can turn these off, and that will also increase battery life

CONs

  • a very disappointing camera

Though the camera is bad, I really think it deserves a 10, because it does what a mobile phone should do these days. Kudos for the . It’s a great phone.

Samsung Announcing GPS & Slider Symbian Smartphones

Posted Tuesday, October 21st, 2008 by Alex Ion

Call me stupid, but I still don’t know why Samsung is supporting an open source OS that has so many flaws and is running slow, when Google’s Android is on the market and rapidly gaining market share.

During an event in London, Samsung presented a couple of smartphones running . I’m talking about Samsung I7110 which is both a phone and a navigation device that features a GPS navigation program with geo-tagging, while is a fashion cell. Check out a couple of specs and see for yourself if it’s worth buying

I7110 : 5MP camera, multiple codec support, 50MB of internal memory (expandable up to 16GB with a microSD slot), and an FM transmitter

: 2.4-inch QVGA display, a 3MP camera, FM radio, a music player, Bluetooth, and 100MB of internal memory (expandable up to 4GB), email, document viewers and such. – via

HP Oak – The Silver Smartphone

Posted Friday, October 3rd, 2008 by Alex Ion

Rumors on the market say that is preparing a new silver touchscreen . Dubbed the device is aimed to corporate business, but not only. Running Windows Mobile 6.1, this latest iPAQ has a side-slider design and also packs 7.2Mbps, HSDPA-based 3G, built-in GPS and Wi-Fi.

The guys at the Wall Street Journal are sure that in a few months will debut in Europe and will be sold by a carrier in retail stores. Some other rumors say that Vodafone will take lead and will probably sell it in retails stores.

People close to said that the has a large screen and feels solid, but has a “bad” navigation key that doesn’t feel very comfortable. They still have time to change it a bit.

BlackBerry 8800

Posted Saturday, August 9th, 2008 by vernons

Over the last few years Blackberry has been pretty much dominating the market and in some ways they deserve it, introducing easy to use and reliable phones.  BlackBerry has recently introduced a stylish and powerful new phone called the BlackBerry® 8800.

BlackBerry® 8800

The BlackBerry® 8800 has been timely introduced to the market to compete against the IPhone 3G. The BlackBerry® 8800 is still dominating the business market and this phone is more proof as to why.
So what makes a BlackBerry® 8800 phone so compelling to business users? We believe it’s the following:

  • Excellent battery life – 528 hours of standby time
  • Excellent security – this phone is impossible to crack and safely stores your personal information.
  • Email support for Exchange (MS), Lotus (IBM) and GroupWise (Novel).
  • Reliability – We’ve never heard any reports of crashing or needing to restart your BlackBerry.
  • Ease of use – Simplicity is what people love and this what business users love about BlackBerry.

The thing that we like having on my is the option of taking a picture; the BlackBerry® 8800 doesn’t actually have a camera which is something we find strange that BlackBerry didn’t add.

Does anyone know why BlackBerry wouldn’t add a camera to a phone in this day and age?

Sexy LG KS20 Hits Stores in Europe, I’m Jealous

Posted Tuesday, November 6th, 2007 by Alex Ion

Lately, we’ve seen more and more cellphones being launched in Europe before the States or other countries and that’s the case with LG’s newest addition, . With Prada perfume and Voyager memories the design is highly appreciated, but let’s see some specs.

LG KS20 Smartphone

3.6Mbps HSDPA, 2 megapixel camera, 2.8-inch QVGA 240×320 dispay and Wi-Fi b and g, all these running on Windows Mobile 6, I guess I got your attention already. But I won’t stop here, because LG just packed a lot inside. How about a full Internet browser, built-in Bluetooth, 128MB of internal memory and the 1050 mAh battery that lasts 400 hours in stand-by mode and 4 hours of talking.

How does that sound? The new will be available in France, the Netherlands, Spain, Italy and Deutschland stores, right away so I’m jealous I can’t have it where I live.

ETEN’s Glowfish M800 is a SMARTphone!

Posted Monday, October 8th, 2007 by Alex Ion

Eten Glowfish M800Fellow gadgeters from PocketInfo.nl in the Netherlands, got some interesting facts about the new M800 which is supposed to upgrade the one we already know, Glowfish X800. Though the term is pretty generic I am talking about a really , because from the specs I’ve seen it’s quite a champion.

Let’s get into some details. Your applications will work thanks to a 500MHz Samsung processor, on Windows Mobile 6 Professional. With 256MB ROM, HSDPA/UMTS and 2 cameras, I am sure many so called smartphones can hear ’s M800 breath. And did I mention the SiRFstar III GPS chip or the 1530 mAh battery?

Comparable with HTC’s TyTN II but with a better battery and a VGA display, M800 will sell for 600-630 euros (that’s $850 – $890) starting from November 2007.
