Cellphones Reduced to Silence by the Illegal Jammers
Posted Tuesday, November 6th, 2007 by Mihnea BoiangiuWhen I read the story I felt very well about this practice even it is not legal. For many times when I was in a movie theater, I had been disturbed by some stupid guys that were talking at their cellphones. Did this happen to you too? In this case I agree with these phone jammers.

The device emits strong radio waves that interfere with cell phone antennas cutting the signal. Consequently the noisy talker will stare at a blank display showing the “No Signal” message. So, the gadget turns off any cellphone in a 30-foot range. However its use is illegal, but more jammers get in US everyday.
The fine for using such a device is $11,000. Nevertheless, many owners of cafes and hair salons, hoteliers, public speakers, theater operators, bus drivers and, increasingly, commuters on public transportation use them to reduce to silence the noisy chatterers. It costs from $50 to several hundred dollars.
The jammer can be useful in schools during the classes or in prisons. I also agree their use in theaters or libraries. But those illegal devices could do harm too. Think about criminals using them to jam the signal of their victims. The problem won’t be solved too easy as I see it.
