Made for iPod fridge

Posted Monday, September 1st, 2008 by Alex Ion

Gorenje is really smiling after their latest release. Dubbed the “Made forĀ  ipod” Fridge, the company is taking on the iPod cult and trying to convince people to buy a few for their homes. I honestly think that they’ll fail, but still it’s a good marketing move. But let’s get on a few details for the new Made for iPod Fridge:

  • it boasts the usual iPod dock
  • includes two built-in speakers but we don’t know how hard can they rock the beers inside
  • Gorenje optimized their portal (iGorenje - what other name could they have used?) for iPhone and iPod and can control your other household appliances that are connected via WiFi

Though it looks nice in pictures, I’m not sure how practical it is, and that’s because when it comes to kitchens we have to be practical. Right? No word if that’s a final version, if they’ll ever produce it, a price or if it’s just a marketing scheme to take on Apple fans.

Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas: Laser Engraved Gadgets

Posted Monday, January 28th, 2008 by Mihnea Boiangiu

Perhaps you already know that Apple’s online store engraves the gadgets bought from there. That’s great, but they only offer text engraving. I have discovered Engrave, a Portland-based company that personalize gadgets, smartphones or laptops. They use laser engraving and I am telling you, their work is impressive.

MacBook

iPhones, iPods, MacBooks or any other cool gadgets can be personalized for your Valentine. That is a great gift for Valentine’s Day. Furthermore, the costs for laser engraving are acceptable. For example an iPhone engraving would cost $50, an iPod nano just $35, while a personalized laptop would cost you between $100-$150 depending on its size.

iPhone

You can come up with your own designs, made in Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw with a minimum resolution of 200 dpi. So, if you want to surprise your sweetie contact the Engrave offices for a request. They also engrave other objects, but first you should make an inquire. I do not know if they accept requests from outside US, but you should give it a try, there is enough time until Valentine’s Day arrives.
