Posted Tuesday, July 8th, 2008 by Alex Ion

God, i hate timezone! Why? Because the New Zealand people will get to have the new iPhone3G first, on the 11th.

 iphone 3g preorder

But i guess I can wait a day before I can get mine, or not. You can either pre-order it from O2, but get only one per customer and on a first come, first served basis, or you can order it and have it delivered to your door though iTunes.

Just so you get an idea of how much us mortals want and need the iPhone, O2 sold out the 16GB version in just 3 hours.

I think I made my poing. Over and out.

iPhone.com sold for $7M

Posted Saturday, May 31st, 2008 by Alex Ion

iphone dot com

Apple just bought the iphone.com domain for $7 million from Michael Kovatch. Mike bought the domain in 1995 when the phones still had wires and we weren’t expecting anything with touchscreen.

I’m not sure if they’re going to give us iPhone reviews on the site or hot news about the “best cellphone in the world” as some may call it, but we’re prepared. There are info about the revolutionary features of the iPhone, rate plans, specifications or how to get started using it. Cellphones evolve, so to be honest I was expecting something like this, though it wasn’t that figure I was counting on.

Good job to Mike selling the domain and to Steve buying it, as DomainTools reports. If you’re visiting iphone.com you’ll be sent to Apple’s iPhone page from now on, so go ahead and try it.

$6,000 for a golden iPhone

Posted Wednesday, May 21st, 2008 by Mihnea Boiangiu

Gold iPhone

That’s the price paid for an golden iPhone at an auction on eBay. The auction gathered many enthusiasts, toting up 69 bids. The winner identity wasn’t disclosed, perhaps he or she didn’t want to get friends attention.

The 16GB model was meticulously disassembled and then plated with pure 24Kt gold by iCandyPhones manufacturer. I believed the iPhone would have looked better if had been plated with platinum.

Gold iPhone

The phone is unlocked and works with any GSM operator worldwide. In my opinion the phone looks too flashy for anybody who’s not a pimp.

Valentine’s Day Gift Ideas: Laser Engraved Gadgets

Posted Monday, January 28th, 2008 by Mihnea Boiangiu

Perhaps you already know that Apple’s online store engraves the gadgets bought from there. That’s great, but they only offer text engraving. I have discovered Engrave, a Portland-based company that personalize gadgets, smartphones or laptops. They use laser engraving and I am telling you, their work is impressive.

MacBook

iPhones, iPods, MacBooks or any other cool gadgets can be personalized for your Valentine. That is a great gift for Valentine’s Day. Furthermore, the costs for laser engraving are acceptable. For example an iPhone engraving would cost $50, an iPod nano just $35, while a personalized laptop would cost you between $100-$150 depending on its size.

iPhone

You can come up with your own designs, made in Adobe Illustrator or Corel Draw with a minimum resolution of 200 dpi. So, if you want to surprise your sweetie contact the Engrave offices for a request. They also engrave other objects, but first you should make an inquire. I do not know if they accept requests from outside US, but you should give it a try, there is enough time until Valentine’s Day arrives.

Christmas Gifts? iPod Touch Is the Most Wanted MP3 Player

Posted Saturday, December 8th, 2007 by Mihnea Boiangiu

iPod TouchHolidays rush! Everybody is looking for something cool in order to offer a nice and fashionable gift. What could be more wanted than a high tech device? iPhone? Oh, yeah! iPod Touch? No problem. Apple’s latest iPod, looks alike the iPhone, but it doesn’t have so many features. However the Touch has a 3.5-inch touch-sensitive glass screen and is able to connect to Internet via built-in Wi-Fi.

I wouldn’t mind to receive one as a present. The Touch features a web browser for surfing the Internet and comes with 8 or 16 GB of storage. iPhone’s applications work perfectly with iPod Touch. So there is a lot of entertainment provided. It plays photos, videos and music, and you also have YouTube. The gadget retails for $299(8GB) and $399 (16GB).

I would certainly opt for the Touch against a Zune or Sony mp3 player, even the price is higher. I have heard about many people who put the Touch on their wish list for Santa. The player can substitute the iPhone in those countries where it wasn’t launched yet.

iPhone Landed in Europe

Posted Saturday, November 10th, 2007 by Mihnea Boiangiu

Today iPhone has landed in Europe, more exactly in UK and in Germany. Although many fans have come for the big launch, Europeans were not so enthusiast as Americans. Some shoppers formed cues in front of the retail stores. By 5 p.m., Deutsche Telekom AG, which owns T-Mobile, announced they sold more than 10,000 iPhones in Germany. The British carrier O2, doesn’t want to disclose the exact number of the sales for this Friday.

iPhone in Europe

Even the iPhone has been expected for six months, there were complains about its price. For instance in Germany the 8GB version retails for $587, on top of a contract through T-Mobile starting at $72 a month and a $37 “installation” fee. In UK, the same model costs $566, while in US it retails for $399.

In France, the gadget-phone will be released on November 29. Orange will be the retailer for the iPhone. There are no news about launching in the other countries across Europe.

LG Voyager a New iPhone Look-a-like?

Posted Wednesday, October 3rd, 2007 by Mihnea Boiangiu

As the holidays are approaching, Verizon Wireless prepares a new launch - LG Voyager. Like the lovely iPhone, LG Voyager features a large touchscreen display, high multimedia capabilities and Internet services (web browsing and email). On the other hand, it reveals a full QWERTY keyboard and a secondary non-touch sensitive screen if it is unfolded. Unlike the future rival, LG Voyager features expandable memory slot up to 8GB.

LG Voyager

Priced somewhere between $250-$300, LG Voyager could outclass the iPhone in Internet services as the Verizon Wireless’ latest data network provides speeds much higher than the AT&T network. LG Voyager gets the full V Cast services, including music, V Cast videos, VZ Navigator, and even V Cast Mobile TV. I must remember you the other features of LG Voyager: speakerphone, picture, text, video and instant messaging, Bluetooth stereo for headsets and speakers, built-in stereo speakers, 2.0 megapixel camera and microSDHC card slot. You should expect it in stores before Thanksgiving.
