This new prototype from has 48 separate processing cores and 1.3 billion transistors and it is the size of a postage stamp. There are effectively 24 dual-core processors on this chip and in theory each separate core could run an operating system. It has been called the Single-chip Cloud Computer and it is based on ’s X86 architecture which allows it to run Windows or Linux operating systems.

The chip also has an efficient power system which means it can be divided into areas and different voltages can be supplied according to the need. It is set to be officially available early in 2010 and I’d guess it will be pricey. Microsoft has already put it into their development plans. is already set to clash with AMD as both companies launch 6 core devices in 2010, clearly this race could escalate quite a bit more in the coming years.

The 24-hour baterry life milestone has been set

Posted Tuesday, September 9th, 2008 by TechGeek

Good news for you travelers! has presented the first computer which has passed the 24-hour battery life barrier. The model tested by operated continuously for 24 hours on a single battery charge.

The HP EliteBook 6930p has achieved an impressive performance by incorporating high-end technology. The test uses (solid state drive) memory, a mercury-free LED display and an ultra-capacity battery. The components mentioned here can increase it overall battery life up to several hours. The LED display alone gives up to for hours of juice, while the SDD boost the battery life with a 7 percent rate.

To create this high-tech , uses the new and X18-M Mainstream SATA SSDs. The solid state drives offer faster system responsiveness, as well as a low energy consumption while operating.

There is a version that has a starting price of $1,199.00, but it doesn’t include the high-performance features listed above.

Intel’s X25-M 80GB SSD goes for $595

Posted Monday, September 8th, 2008 by Alex Ion

Who would have expected ’s 80GB to be available this week? Uh wait, we all waited for something from them, so that could have been just the one. It’s a 80GB that goes on sale this week and will start selling for $595. Optimized to boost speed and apparently to save you energy this is a 2.5-inch solid state () drive, but the company also announced a 3.5-inch version.

But wait coz that’s not all. Apparently thinks this is the “top performing solution”. Do you disagree guys? I think it’s a lot to say about it, but we’ll see after the world gets it. – via Cnet

MacBook Air with Penryn, Soon Soon

Posted Thursday, August 14th, 2008 by Alex Ion

I’m pretty sure over here, that Apple fans are waiting on the big announcement that the is getting help under the hood. Apparently the company is going to ditch the 65-nm special made for them and will go for the “standard” 45nm chips that should run from 2.26 GHz to 3.06 GHz with 1,066 MHz FSB.

Eco-geeks may not love the new models, because it has an increased power consumption. From 20 W to 29 W. Since this is just a rumor right now, I can only add that is going release a few low and ultra-low voltage Penryns in a 22-mm package which will draw less power.

The info, which is from PhoneNews, really makes sense. We demand MBAs with Penryns. But what if we need some better batteries and better GMA X4500 integrated graphics? Can you Apple?

Intel Eco PC (notebook)

It’s just recently that new info about ’s designed for education surfaced. This is how the (or the Classmate PC) is going to look. So far it’s rumored to be a 10-inch with a 9-inch display that weighs a little under 3 pounds and will sell for sub-$400. It’s supposed to run on a 900MHz Celeron processors, with 512MB of RAM, a 40GB hard drive, built-in WiFi and Ethernet. It has decent specs for a $400 .

I am sure is trying to take on the OLPC, Asus` Eee PC or any other Eee PC rivals like HP’s 2133 UMPC. We’ll probably have to wait for the official release before we’re certain of what’s inside and can give a verdict. Meanwhile see more photos.
