Foldable Active Noise Canceling Headphones – Review

Posted Saturday, November 29th, 2008 by vernons

Last week I received ableplanet‘s new noise cancelling “Clear Harmony Foldable with Linx Audio”. I have been using these for roughly 4 days now in the office and I am pretty impressed with I see and hear.

Below is a list of what I liked:

  1. Noise cancelling was excellent
  2. The are very comfortable not only around your ears but also your head. They literally fit like a glove.
  3. Sound quality was very good – Bose Quiet Comfort 3 would be the comparable product and was better on sound but they do retail for $349.00.
  4. The are also very sturdy; it will take a lot to break or damage them.
  5. The nicest feature of all is that they fold very nicely into a small compact size.

I also think that for $99.99 you can’t go wrong with this product. To see more details you can check here.

Philips SHE9850 Headsets Review

Posted Friday, September 12th, 2008 by Alex Ion

Just the other day I was out in the city, trying to see new things in town and I realized I’d love some music on my new iPod Nano. I decided it’s time to get one “capable” headset for a test drive and see if they’re better than what Apple provides and see if I’m missing something, because headsets technology has developed a lot these days. First impression: MUCH better!

So I took the most recent entry into the earbud market, Philips SHE9850, and decided it’s worth my time to it for you guys. The first thing that fascinated me is that the rubber and foam tips “intelligently adjust” to your ear, based on “detailed research into the anatomy of ears”. Of course you’ll have to try it yourself but believe me, they offer a high comfort level because they’re angled the right way.

However, thought they look perfect, they’re not really. Apparently built to cancel background noise (that’s why it has rubber tips) they are not very good at it, just the average.

Another great point is the sound quality (they actually deliver bass levels), which is actually much better than a solid equivalent headphone you put in your ear.

Last thing I enjoyed is that you’ll have to pay from $70 to $90 for a set of and that really doesn’t sound that much when you get such quality.

If you tested them, too, just shoot us a comment with your thoughts. If not, would you buy your pair?

Creative Aurvana X-Fi Review

are not new to the market and we showed at least a couple of them in the past, but this time we took ’s for a test drive and will definitely tell you everything about it.

Weighing about 250 grams, with a great design using the black and silver scheme, these headphones use two AAA batteries and have on-ear controls to switch the device on and off or to adjust volume levels. But these are somehow standard, so why not get deeper and see why it would be worth it to buy and why wouldn’t.

PROs on the new Creative Aurvana X-Fi Noise Cancelling

  • The feature is great. It cancels out ambient noise really well and makes your music sound much more clearer.
  • The “cans” are larger, extremely easy to wear and will offer the great comfort we all need when listening to music.
  • is adjustable for a variety of different head sizes and comfort levels
  • The X-Fi Xtreme Fidelity feature will restore detail and will expand your music and movies to surround sound.
  • The X-Fi CMSS-3D feature is a virtual surround-sound effect that you’ll want to use with movies and games because it gives the sound a sense of physical depth
  • The X-Fi Crystalizer feature really makes music sound better – it really does work with lossy files
  • There’s the possibility to turn on and off the noise-canceling and other features.

Of course there are disadvantages so here’s what could have been built better:

  • We would have appreciate a li-ion battery instead of two AAA even though it means it works just right after taking it out of the box
  • The size and the weight of the , are a big drawback. However I do agree that comfort and great noise-canceling need larger cans.

Price is somewhere at $300 so if you’re picky with your , that would be a great solution.

Sony DR-BT140QP – Bluetooth Headphones

Sony DR-BT140QP - Bluetooth Headphones

are the new wireless hedphones the company has recently built. These are smart or at least that’s what the $138.89 price tells me and the fact that it support 2.0 and A2DP/AVRCP/HFP/HSP profiles. It has a frequency response of 16Hz-24,000Hz, 30mm in diameter driver unit, a built-in lithium battery for 12 hours of continuous use and should be available in black, pink silver and white from July 25th, when pre-orders start.

I’m not really a fan of and to be honest,  but I’ll have to at least try this one before telling you if it’s good or not. has a brand to defend, so this better be great, not good.

Panasonic pink RP-HTX7 headphones

Panasonic pink RP-HTX7 headphonesMore and more companies are “thinking pink” and started to develop products for the ladies. That’s the case with these retro pink , the RP-HTX7. Not sure about you but they really remind me of those helicopter they used in Mash, except these are pink.

They have a response range from 7Hz to 22KHz and have been extra padded for comfort. Expect to pay $60 for them. Though they are expensive it could be the perfect gift for your geeky girlfriend.
