The First 4 GB MicroSD Card Released By SanDisk

Posted February 13th, 2007 by Marius Trusculescu

4 GB microSD memory card from SanDiskSanDisk showed a great product today in Barcelona, meant to enlarge the capacity of mobile devices equipped with microSD expansion slots. Targeted at multimedia mobile phones and other portable devices the first card that offers 4 GB in storage is definitely one of the stars at the 3GSM conference in Barcelona.

Coming as a reaction to Seagate’s portable hard drive (the DAVE project), the 4 Gb microSD card will allow users to save more songs, photos or even videos on their portable devices. But as pricing isn’t yet available we can’t say we have a winner product, because we all know flash based storage (in memory cards) is way more expensive than magnetic storage (in hard disks). All we know is the product will be available sometimes this year according to SanDisk officials.
