Seagate launches encrypted hard-disk laptops

Seagate, the biggest manufacture of hard-disks around the world announced today that ASI Computer Technologies will be the first manufacturer to build encrypted hard-disk laptops with the new chip that makes it impossible to use the information on a hard drive or (even booting it) without proper authentication.
This is a very good solution because stolen laptops, and losing lots of important data from work being exploited by others brought serious problems with Governments, National Agencies or other institutions that rely on confidentiality. The new solution from Seagate is different from those already known solutions that implement firewalls or have encrypted software, by the fact that it is embedded directly in the hard drive and requires a password or a key when the hard drive is accessed. You don’t have it, and it’s useless.
