The SD-P2800 9†Portable DVD Player From Toshiba

Every company from today puts the accent on portability seeing this as a way to draw more consumers to their products. You must agree all noticed it is hard to find a decent mp3 player/phone/gadget that doesn’t have the ability to also play video files.
With such a development in this industry one might wonder: “why do we even need portable DVD players when we have this small stylish new devices?”. Well, even if this devices are appropriate for the latest MTV videoclip or for the small funny videos they offten prove to small when trying to watch a whole movie on them. I know Steve Jobs presented the video playback functions of the iPhone using a movie (Pirates of the Caribbeans) but I am sure 90% of there costumers will never use the device to watch a video that exceeds 45 minutes because the size of screen is only 3.5″.
A DVD player addresses different situations as we can’t carry it along, like and iPod or a phone, everytime we leave home. Personally, I find a DVD player the best choice for a boring flight or any kind of travel that doesn’t imply beautiful sceneries or interesting activities.
Having established the benefits (and the drawbacks) of a portable DVD player I think it is time to present the actual product I had in mind for this post. It it a Toshiba device named SD-P2800. If the name doesn’t ring you any bells maybe a few specs will. The first thing you may want to know is that the display is a 9″ LCD one with a viewing angle of 170 degree on both the horizontal and the vertical. Having a DVD drive, the SD-P2800 can play ordinary video DVDs and video CDs but DivX, Avi, Mpeg-4 and Jpeg pictures are also supported. If you own such a device you can also use his video and audio outputs on an auxiliary screen or sound system. The lifetime of only 3.5 hours is the only thing I don’t like on this device because it’s a serious problem for its portability aspect.
