Meizu Mini Player

Posted February 11th, 2007 by Marius Trusculescu

It is a known fact that Chinese electronics producers tend to copy new high-tech product designs but they often manage include better features at the original’s level. Following the same recipe the Meizu Mini player seems to be an improved copy of the iPod Nano series.

Meizu Mini Player

When I say improved don’t think at minor adjustments, as the features of this small device are really impressive. First of all we have a device capable of playing common audio files (MP3, WMA, WAV, OGG, etc), playing .AVI video files and photo viewing for BMP, JPG and GIF formats.

Next we have the feature Apple never wanted to include, an FM tuner with 30 preset channels, which can be a source for recording audio files besides the built-in microphone. Forget Zune’s WiFi sharing technique because the Mini Player can serve not only for radio receiving, but for FM FM broadcasting as well.

Coming in 1/2/4 GB flavors the Mini Player also permits playing small video games on the 2.4″ QVGA (320×240 pixels) LCD screen. Useful applications like a clock and a calculator are also installed as defaults for this player.

Actually I think the Mini PLayer has all the function you could have wanted in a multimedia portable device and because of this it is one of the best competitors for Apple’s iPod Nano. Don’t forget that Meizu is rumored to develop an improved iPhone version as well.
