inMotion im500 Portable Audio System

Posted January 12th, 2007 by Marius Trusculescu

Until the iPhone will be available in June the iPod nano is still the coolest device in Apple’s portofolio and certainly one of the coolest in the whole world. The cool thin mp3 player has a lot of functionalities but the thing is missing is a speaker system.

Im500 ipod nano speakerHere comes into play the product I am about to describe. It’s the im500 portable audio system created by Altec Lansig, world leader in the manufacturing of high quality sound systems.

When I first saw the im500 I felt just like the first time I saw the iPod nano: I have never seen such a thin device with such great performances. This device has a docking station for the iPod but also includes an audio jack to connect to a second device (laptop,CD player or others). The im500 runs on 6 AAA batteries that are supposed to offer up to 8 hours of high quality music entertainment. A good thing to know is that while docked in the audio system, the iPod will also be charged so you won’t run out of power in the middle of your favorite song.

For better portability the 12 ounces (340 grams) audio system folds when closed to just 8.5″x0.7″x5″ (215mm x 17mm x 128mm).
