YouTube to be sued by Thailand
Posted May 7th, 2007 by Mihnea Boiangiu
YouTube continues the series of lawsuits. The last one is about sharing some clips about the Thai King Bhumibol Adulyadej. The videos present the King in some mocking scenes. After the Thailand laws that is an insult to the royal family.

“We are considering taking legal action against the website,” said Vissanu Meeyo, a spokesman from Information Ministry in Thailand. The government started to block YouTube after the first video appeared in April. A week after the mocking clip, the Thai court jailed a Swiss man for 10 years. The reason were a couple of portraits that were vandalized by the respective “criminal”. Further, the man was pardoned by the King.
I don’t want to debate about the Thai laws, but I think they should consider the freedom of expression. YouTube has some Terms of Service, as far as I know, where they let the responsibility of publishing content over the publisher. Please check the guidelines here. In my opinion YouTube should remove the videos and the conflict should stop. We live in the 3rd millennium people! - MIHNEA BOIANGIU
