Two New Low-entry Cameras From Canon

Posted January 18th, 2007 by Marius Trusculescu

The new A550 and A460 digital cameras from Canon come at prices bellow $200 increasing the competition on an already over-saturated market.

Replacing last years A530, the A550 is a 7.1 MP digital camera with a 4x optical zoom and a 2″ LCD display offered at a price of $199.99. Besides beautiful pictures the camera allows you to make video clips at 30 fps (frame per second) at a resolution of 640×480. To increase the memory the camera has a built-in card slot compatible with the MMC, SD and SDHC memory cards.

For $149.99 you can buy the 5.0 MP A460 digital camera. It too has a 2″ display and benefits from the same 4x optical zoom, but unlike the A550 it lacks the ability of recording video clips. A card slot is also present with the same MMC, SD and SDHC memory card supported to extend the base memory.

This products seem great for users like me who only want to remember the family moments without knowing all the fancy buttons in professional cameras, but not for the passionate photographers who expect to have the ability to change every settings in the device.
