Sony Vaio UX Series
Posted January 4th, 2007 by Marius TrusculescuThe new Sony Vaio UX series is the first series of ultraportable computers that is ready for the next version of Windows: Microsoft Windows Vista. The sleek design of this device has a 4.5″ Wide SVGA LCD display with a native resolution of 1024×600 and a 64 keys keyboard that slides out from behind the display.

The device also features a 1.2Ghz CPU Intel® Core™ Solo Processor, 1GB of DDR2 RAM memory, a 40 GB hard drive and a 128 MB Intel® 945GMS Graphics Card. There is also a USB port 2.0, a RJ-45 LAN port, a Wireless LAN port compliant with the 802.11a/b/g standards, Bluetooth and 2 digital cameras of 0.3 and 1.3 MP. Reading this specifications it is obvious for everyone that this small device packs a lot of computing power so you would imagine a low battery life for all this functions. Well this is not the case as Sony has two battery packs that provide 2.5-4.5 or 5-9 hours of functionality depending on what the functioning parameters are.
If you plan on buying such a device remember you may want to know that it is shipped with Microsoft® Windows® XP Professional (Service Pack 2) and with Microsoft® Works 8.5 already installed. Also remember that the UX series comes in many different flavors as there are a lot of possibilities such as exchanging the magnetic hard drive for a 32 GB flash based drive.
