Sony PlayStation 3 versus Nitendo Wii

The first competitor of PS3 is Nintendo Wii. While Nintendo is sold out in almost every store, PS3 doesn’t get the same success. Yeah, that’s true, Sony PlayStation can’t handle the competition!
Although PS3 is more expensive than Wii, Sony game console is a real entertainment center. We talked about PS3 in a previous article and we agreed it is very well equipped with Blu-Ray DVD player and wireless network. Despite all these, PS3 goes behind Nintendo Wii.
“Our channel checks yesterday of 52 retail stores, from boutiques to big-box retailers, showed that 28 of the 52 stores had PS3 consoles in stock, while none had Wii consoles in stockâ€, says American Technology Research analyst Paul-Jon McNealy. Usually after releasing a new game console, the producers have problems in keeping the stores shelves full, but not in the case of Sony PlayStation 3. Sony spokesman, Dave Karraker, told that the reason for constant presence of PS3 in stores is the great supply network.
A study made by a retail market research firm showed that Nintendo sold 604,200 Wiis in the United States in December, exceeding Sony’s PS3 sales of 490,700. Microsoft’s Xbox 360, which has been available for a year longer than the PS3 and Wii, sold 1.1 million in December. The fight will continue, but Sony should adopt a new strategy for getting the lead.
