NTT DoCoMo Making Phones for Doctors

Posted May 28th, 2007 by Alex Ion

For those of you that are doctors or even nurses, there is a rumor saying that NTT DoCoMo is creating a targeted mobile phone for you. It’s supposed to use the DoCoMo 3G FOMA structure to access the medical records database whenever they need to consult someone on the phone. I am not sure how this is going to happen. Will the records be on the phones memory? What if you lose your phone? That’s sensitive data. However if it’s not than it means you will access the medical records from the hospital directly from your phone. How secure is that?

I may not be a fan of the idea but if it’s going to go worldwide (which I don’t think it will) you’d better think of other niches that may use it, like lawyers to offer phone consultations.
