No porn on mobiles

Here is the story. Telus operator introduced a pay-per-download porn distributing service on January 8th this year. Its customers were able to download adult content on their mobile phones, for $3 an image or $4 a video. After launching the service, Telus has registered and age-verified thousands of customers. Telus entered this service because where is porn involved, there will be a lot of money.
The problems appeared quickly, because Telus has received many complaints and a number of service cancellations. Due to these issues, Telus decided it would be best to stop providing the service. The fight against the pornography on cellphones was started by Vancouver’s Catholic archdiocese that told about 130 parishes and schools to give up their Telus Mobility contracts. They suggested that Telus service users should seek other free-pornography mobile operator. Moreover, the church published a 12-page special section in the B.C. Catholic, a weekly newspaper of Vancouver archdiocese.
Trying to avoid more negative publicity, Telus is now no longer offering porn services. However, today many mobile service providers are offering mobile internet to their customers. So, anyone is able to access adult content on internet. In my opinion, the Vancouver’s Catholic archdiocese didn’t solve at all the problem. What they did is just some free publicity for Telus.
