The trend in electronics is that thinner is better. Many different types of electronics are becoming thinner. This was probably first seen with laptops but is now being seen more and more with cameras. Many camera companies have noticed this trend and are making their cameras thin. One camera company that has made a slim camera is Nikon. This camera is their Nikon CoolPix S51 compact digital camera and will cost you around $250.
This thin camera sports a large 3 inch screen. On the LCD screen there is an anti-reflection coating over it to allow you to easily view your pictures in the sunlight. It has 8 megapixels of resolution and a 3X zoom are available to the user. There is also optical image stabilization, a precise zoom lens and 16 scene modes. The four-way thumb button makes it quick to scroll through and make menu selections. You can choice between two colors for this camera which are dark silver, chocolate brown, vivid magenta, black or red; colors will vary depending on where you live.
There are a few things that are not perfect about this camera. One thing is the small buttons and small zoom rocker button. If you have larger fingers these buttons can be harder to press. The mode button is tiny and changing settings can be confusing when you first start playing with the camera. These are just minor setbacks to this camera and can be things that can be overlooked. Overall, this is a great camera with many features for a reasonable price.
