Google video chat for Gmail

Yesterday Google released its video chat for Gmail. I spent part of my day today playing around with “Gmail Video” with a bunch of friends. Firstly I found that the video and sound quality are actually pretty good, there was no loss in sound and the video didn’t drag although I do have a T1 web connection. If you don’t actually have a newish PC your computer will start to slow down considerably as Gmail Video does eat up CPU resources. You will have to install a small proprietary plug-in to actually get Gmail Video and Voice working, but after that its pretty easy to get started.
