Girl Geeks on the Rise
Posted March 31st, 2008 by Alex Ion

A recent study from Solutions Research Group, came up with a staggering fact. We, men, are no longer the absolute owners of gadgets and the real definition of “geeks”. Girl geeks are now ahead of men in activities like streaming network TV, DVR use, and casual gaming, the Women and Digital Lifestyles report (PDF link) said.
70% of women say they played a PC game last month vs. 69% of men.
Though I don’t like men to lose supremacy over gadgets and tech in general I’m certain having more women to talk the Gadgetish (new language) is good. We have a lot in common now, don’t we? I wish they will love football and soccer in the near future …

Any girl who wants to be geeky is great for everyone

Rather, I think it’s time for men to stop caring about stupid boring mindless things like sports and start caring about things women care about like fashion, design, movies that don’t involve car chases. Can’t be all taking no giving guys!

Mike. What. the. hell.
“stupid boring mindless things like sports” i can agree with that. thats fair.
but start caring about “fashion, design and movies?” WHAT THE ****? how is that not stupid boring and mindless? fashion is the most shallow, vapid, and, to be blunt, RETARDED things to worry about. design i get. its fairly important. but movies. not all men dislike movies that dont have car chases. maybe its just the ones that you date.

I don’t think girls are quite the gamer geeks that you would think. I believe that the question, if asked as stated above, merely asks people if they play games on a computer. They don’t ask what kind of games they play though… which means those stupid, addictive games on places like MSN or Yahoo! or any of the other many sites would count to them as playing computer games. And if that’s true, then we need to look at the definition of a gamer… are these people now classified as “gamers”?
But you guys will be happy to know that I am an actual girl geek. Sports are mindless and boring, but give me a computer to fix and I’m thrilled.

My wife’s pregnant. We’re naming the kid Qwerty.

Qwerty the boy? Or Qwerty the girl?
Either way, it’s an awesome name.
Also, Mike’s a dumbass.

Girls dont Technically “GAME”
They might play the small card games, or free download, yahoo, and pogo games, But a REAL gamer builds his own PC, buys his games.
Women watch more of their sitcom/ drama / soapopera/ reality shows than men. Does not mean they are geeks. I know geek girls and they do none of what is listed. DVR…. I didnt know DVR was a gadget… Men are to lazy to use it and we don’t care. This post is false and needs to be rewritten. Gadgets.. please define gadgets and which ones.

Wow, Pete, that’s amazingly small minded of you. Because of course, no girl could possibly know how to build a computer or buy a game. I obviously have no idea how to do anything that’s remotely geeky, due to having breasts and no penis. Jesus, were you born in the Stone Age?
I happen to spend a lot of time hanging around with a mixed-sex group, all of whom could be described as geeks. Some of the guys couldn’t build a computer with step by step instructions, and some of the girls have most of the 3rd ed Dungeons and Dragons books memorised. You can’t overgeneralise to the ridiculousness of your above statements, BECAUSE THEY’RE JUST NOT TRUE.
Get out, meet some people, and learn that girls have more in their heads then just clothes and guys, alright? Some of us can play FPS and kick your ass.

Pete, what’s your Steam ID? I’d like to show you how I game.
Or do you only have WoW characters and a Dell with some tack-on LEDs?

Who is the girl in the picture?
February 13th, 2009 at 6:53 am
Most girls don’t play computer game. It’s a very very small minority that do. All the others are just happy with chess & solitaire.

Today’s gamers include millions of Americans of all ages and backgrounds. In fact, almost two-thirds of all American households play games. This vast audience is fueling the growth of this multi-billion dollar industry and bringing jobs to communities across the nation. Below is a list of the top 10 entertainment software industry facts:
