General Electric enters digital photography market
Posted February 15th, 2007 by Mihnea BoiangiuGeneral Electric is one of the most trusted companies in the world. Its name associated with General’s Imaging know-how will increase the chances of success. The two companies GE and General Imaging have reached an exclusive licensing agreement upon manufacturing GE-branded cameras. General Imaging will design, manufacture and distribute an all-new line of GE-branded digital cameras.

The entry-level cameras will have 7 megapixels of resolution and 2.5″ LCD screen. Regarding the names working for General Imaging, I am sure about the success of these new digital cameras. For example, General Imaging Co. Chairman and CEO Hiroshi “Hugh†Komiya is a former president of Olympus Imaging Corporation. Rene Buhay, a former Vice-President of Global Sales for ArcSoft who worked for Samsung and Ricoh will be the sales representative in North America. Takeyoshi Kawano will be the company’s chief designer. He designed Sony brands (Walkman and Vaio) and the Olympus Stylus camera series.
The GE cameras will make their debut at Photo Marketing Association (PMA) trade show, next month in Las Vegas.“I’ve been in the electronics field for many years, and the GE cameras are like nothing I’ve ever seen before. Our aim is to be Number 1 in all aspects – quality, technology, performance and value – and these cameras will do that,†said Rene Buhay.
