Gadgets to be banned in NY

Posted February 8th, 2007 by Mihnea Boiangiu

No gadgetsState Sen. Carl Kruger of Brooklyn made a law proposal which would ban the use of electronic gadgets on a crosswalk in New York. The pedestrians won’t be allowed to use cellphones or MP3 players while are crossing a road. The idea of the project came when the Senator Kruger documented about the accidents caused by pedestrians.

“We’re talking about people walking sort of tuned-in, and in the process of being tuned-in, (they’re) tuned-out…They’re walking into speeding cars. They’re walking into buses. They’re walking into one another, and it’s creating a number of fatalities that have been documented right here in the city”, said the senator.

If you are living in NY and you don’t intend to respect the law, you should know that the possible fine is about $100. In my opinion, the law is a little restrictive, but we need to protect ourselves from danger. Because using a gadget in the street can distract our attention and you know what follows.
