DAV Center D22 - Intoducing The Digital Home

Posted January 18th, 2007 by Marius Trusculescu

The DAV CENTER D22 is a product by Asus designed to be the perfect entertainment unit. The main feature of this product is the ability of record your channels according to a schedule and the ability to stream content (pictures, images, videos) from your home to your location trough the internet.
Like all the new devices in this category, the D22 is at core a very powerful computer. You can see for yourselves if I mention it incorporates an Intel Core Duo processor, 1 GB of DDR2 RAM, a SATA II hard drive offering 250 GB of storage and a NVidia GS7600 graphics card. There is also a DVD drive, a card reader, an Ethernet and a Wireless LAN adapter (802.11b/g), 6 USB 2.0 ports a 7.1 audio exit and much more.

This device includes two TV tuners to be prepared even for when you want to record a channel while watching another one, or even when you decide to record both of them at the same time. Although the integrated tuners can process both digital and analog signals you can use them both only when you are watching/recording two digital channels or two analog channels. The video output of the device is a true 1080p with HDMI (High Definition Media Interface) support.

Regarding the accessories I must add that you have of course a remote controller that works for up to 30 ft. (10 m), but a wireless mouse and keyboard are also present. Although the device is Windows Vista Capable, the operating system of choice for now is the Windows XP Media Center Edition as there is still some time left until Microsoft’s big release.
As there are more features to this device that I chose not to include into this presentation I advise you to check the specifications page if you are eager for more informations regarding this product.
