BenQ-Siemens EF81
Posted January 15th, 2007 by Marius TrusculescuShrinking is the new trend in the mobile phone making industry and Benq-Siemens has brought the fight to a new level with its latest clamshell.
The EF81 is one of the new know-it-all products, incorporating all the latest technology available but without trying to replace the PC. Without claiming a spot in the smartphone arena this new tri-band phone turns to be great for multimedia applications as it can play the most common video and audio file types. But, this success is downsized by the lack of an FM tuner, and not even the presence of a 2 MP digital camera can make up for that mistake.

Besides the multimedia features, this phone’s office tools (the email, the organizer, the web browser and the Microsoft Outlook synchronizing) hint towards a low-cost smartphone that can’t handle office files. The EF81 turns to be a middle solutions that might prove a success as consumers tend to like tasting all the tech flavors at once.
