Apple charges for unlocking Intel Mac 802.11n wireless standard

Your Mac specifications says you have 802.11n wireless built-in. True. But you can’t use it, right? Apple shipped the majority of the Core 2 Duo line-up (MacBook, MacBook Pro, Mac Pro with AirPort Extreme and iMac - except the 17-inch 1.83GHz model) with the 802.11n wireless support locked. What does the ” n ” standard in that card do? It offers superior bandwidth for your connection.
You can unlock it though, and there are two ways. The new 802.11n AirPort Extreme that will launch in February but would cost around $180 or by downloading the AirPort Extreme 802.11n Enabler 1.0 patch that would be charged a $4.99 fee for being downloaded. The funny thing is the fact that you have to pay for the enabler patch. Why is that? Because they were not advertised as 802.11n, and the Sarbanes-Oxley Act is keeping Apple from offering a product for something it hasn’t been advertised. Bull? I would say so.
