I never thought someone would pay $1.5 million for a watch, but I guess there are enough of them, because that happened. We’re talking of a rare 1956 Patek Phillippe chronograph that was recently auctioned for exactly $1,514,400 during a Important Collectors’ Watches, Pocket Watches & Clocks auction at the Antiquorum, last week. So what exactly the guy got for that money? An 18k yellow gold chronometer that packs three small dials with a 30 minute register, a perpetual calendar and the phases of the moon (tres chic!!!), along with a 18k yellow gold link bracelet, a neat storage box. Would you pay that much money for a passion?
