Toshiba unveiled at 3GSM Congress in Barcelona two smartphones from Portégé series. The phones presented in Barcelona are Portégé G500 and Portégé G900 which provide a unique and enhanced level of security - the fingerprint authentication. Both devices are running Windows Mobile software, because Toshiba is trying to offer the same office environment like the PC.

The Portégé G500 smartphone will be available this spring. It is a high quality compact “sliderâ€. The phone has a 2.3†QVGA screen, Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, music player and 2 megapixel VGA camera. Toshiba G500 has 64MB of internal memory and support for miniSD card.

The Portégé G900 has many similarities with G500, but it has a few advantages. For example the display is bigger - 3″. It features a full QWERTY keyboard which is better in office applications. The Portégé G900 runs Windows Mobile 6 for Pocket PC Phone. This device will be available in the summer of 2007.
We don’t know the prices for the two UMTS mobiles. Further information about the phones will be published soon by Toshiba.
