The P51 - Another All-in-One Mobile Phone
Posted February 5th, 2007 by Marius TrusculescuI really love the expression “all-in-one” and I like even more the devices that qualify for that expression, therefore I like
the P51 mobile phone by BenQ-Siemens.
So what has the P51 to offer? As you would expect from an all-in-one device there is wireless LAN, Bluetooth and USB connectivity, GPS navigation, PDA functions and of course quad band mobile telephony (GSM/GPRS 850/900/1800/1900 MHz). A 1.3 MP digital camera was also included which being capable of video recording, and the appropriate software for video and audio playback together with the photo editing application offer a complete multimedia experience.
As for the PDA functionalities, the hardware that provides all the computing power is an Intel Xscale processor clocked at 416 MHz benefiting from a 64MB Mobile SDRAM and 192MB Flash ROM memory. Just like in all the new mobile devices, the storage capacity can be increased by the means of a memory card inserted in the
SD/MMC slot. On this hardware a Microsoft Windows Mobile V5 operating system will make sure you can perform almost any task trough the installed applications, like the Office for mobile phones package, the Internet browser, email and calendar client (with synchronization) and many others.
I remember no more than a year ago it was hard to find a telephone with PDA capabilities that will incorporate GPS positioning and a wireless connection and almost everything you found lacked at least one of this functionalities. We find ourselves now with plenty of such devices (many of which I or my colleagues have wrote about here at DevicePedia) and it’s tougher and tougher to pick one so we are trying to bring you all the important information when searching for such devices.
