Texas Instruments OMAP3430 first 720p playback mobile phone

Texas Instruments OMAP3430 first 720p playback mobile phone3GSM 2007 in Barcelona has good news for us. Remember when we talked about Window Media 6 that I’ve mentioned new things to come up on mobile phones? I really had the 720p in my mind and looks like Texas Instruments is a pioneer in offering high definition playback for a cell-phone. It uses the OMAP 3 processors - ARM Cortex A8 - and for 3D acceleration it has OpenGL ES 2.0 standard graphics support.

TI OMAP3430 supports up to 1024×768 output in XGA mode, thanks to the S-video or composite connections, and since TI is showing this beauty right now I can bet there won’t me more than an year until your phone will be able to play back HD even on a big screen HDTV. What I wonder now is what prices will these monsters come on the market. Let’s hope we won’t pay all our salary for the new 720p playback mobiles or it wouldn’t be worth it.
