Posted February 12th, 2007 by Marius Trusculescu

Apparently the smartphone market is becoming more popular as most of the mobile devices manufacturers are releasing new products every day on their desire to score a higher number of sales. The truth is that this trend is great news for the consumer’s ears as tougher competition always means cheaper, better products are available.

Samsung's SGH-i600 smartphoneFeaturing a 2 MP digital camera the super slim SGH-i520 handset runs a Symbian 9.2 OS (operating system) which includes e-mail, web browsing, a document viewer and playback support for the most common audio files and Mpeg 4 videos. On the other hand the SGH-i600 has a built-in 1.3 MP camera and runs Microsoft’s Windows Mobile v5.0 OS. It too features an e-mail client, a web browser and playback for most common audio and video files.

Both smartphones are compatible with the HSDPA 1.8Mbps / UMTS, EDGE/ GPRS standards while offering support for the Bluetooth 2.0 connectivity, but the SGH-i600 offers the possibility of connecting to a WiFi 802.11 b/g network too. It is also a good news that the devices also a include microSD slots allowing an eventual increase in their storage capacity.

If you are planing on acquiring one of this products, I must inform you that the i600 is already available in several European countries and Samsung has announced they will introduce the i520 in the second quarter of this year. Pricing is yet to be announced but be sure to check DevicePedia for new informations as we are alos expecting further details on the Samsung F700 smartphone.
