Sierra Wireless AirCard 595 is a product of Verizon Wireless and Sierra Wireless cooperation, a PC card for EV-DO access on the Verizon Wireless’ BroadbandAccess service. It’s their first EV-DO, Revision A card, available online, that will offer better data speeds specially for bigger packages like presentations or photos. The Sierra Wireless AirCard 595 is currently compatible with the CDMA and EV-DO networks from Verizon therefore expect rates of up to 3.1 Mbps for downlink and 1.8 Mbps for uplink.
For the price of $99.99 and with a $50 rebate for the two years subscription a Verizon Wireless customer could benefit of the new technology as soon as it is available.
PC Magazine have an AirCard 595 review and found that it had faster download speeds, both in Rev A and Rev 0 than the main competitors Novatel S720 or Novatel S620. The main resolution of the review is the fact that it’s the fastest PC card out there connecting your notebook to the Internet in areas where EV-DO connections are possible.
