Dell Inspiron Mini 12

This is a handy notebook/netbook crossover with a 12.1 inch screen and fairly basic specs. It features Intel’s cheap Atom 1.6GHz processor and you have a choice of 60GB or 80GB hard drives. It is fairly slim at 0.92 inches thick and quite attractive and it weighs just 2.72 pounds so it is very portable. It will come with Windows Vista, a basic built in webcam, 1GB RAM and Bluetooth and wireless connectivity.
The display is slightly bigger than most netbooks and it offers decent quality images with good brightness at wide viewing angles and a resolution of 1280×800. There are several ports including 3 USB ports, a VGA port, a 3-in-1 card reader and jacks for a microphone or speakers. At just under $600 it won’t break the bank but it isn’t particularly powerful so it is probably only suitable for casual users. Dell seem to be aiming it at the teen market.
