Philips will kick Apple TV for the joy of those that hate Mac

Remember how it happened when the iPod was launched? Everything else that ended up on the market was similar with it. It looks like it’s time for Apple TV to get look-alike products. Philips has one in this aluminum box that is a very good alternative for watching DivX movies for those that hate Mac or just wouldn’t spend £200.
It has a 40GB hard drive to keep media locally and can be expanded via USB if you connect other and it can also play audio and video from wireless networked drives. No specs and prices were release at Taipei Computex 2007 where this new box appeared.

Das war so bei dem iPod, dem iPhone und jetzt geschieht es auch mit Apple TV. Jetzt macht sich Philips daran eine eigene Version eines Apple TVs auf den Markt zu bringen. Erstmals vorgestellt wurde der Angriff auf Apple auf der Computex in der vergangenen Woche. Die technischen Spezifikationen lesen sich fast so wie beim Apple TV: 40 GB Festplatte, HDMI und optische Audioausgänge. Die Festplatte kann per USB 2.0 ein bisschen gepimpt werden. Weitere Details sind noch nicht bekannt. Insgesamt hat sich Philips auf der Computex noch ein wenig mit dem Gerät zurückgehalten. Der Preis für das Home-Entertainment-Gerät von Philips ist ebenfalls noch unbekannt. Man kann aber sicher davon ausgehen, dass der Preis ziemlich attraktiv sein wird (im Verhältnis zum Apple TV).
