Gigabyte H663 Entertainment Unit

Home entertainment is the new battleground for electronic manufacturers as the PC market no longer generates the expected profit margins due to extreme competition and price cuts. It’s clear that the leaders from the computer arena are focusing on this field as both Intel and AMD have developed dedicated platforms for this market (Intel ViiV and AMD Live!).

For today’s topic I chose to speak about the H663 unit Gigabyte recently introduced. Based on the Intel ViiV platform the new product is comes with the Windows XP Media Center Edition installed. Responsible for the computing power is a Intel Pentium D Processor 820/920 mounted on a GA-8I945EF-RH motherboard that offers SATA II hard disk support, integrated graphics, high fidelity 7.1 audio support and an TV Tuner add-in card. To read optical discs Gigabyte included a DVD dual unit, while a 7-in-1 card reader allows you to have instant access to pictures directly from the memory card of your digital camera.
