NVIDIA will launch soon a cheaper version of the nForce 680i SLI chipset. The new nForce 680i LT SLI will be available for different mainboards manufactures, and will be addressed to extreme gamers. It will have active cooling, DDR2-800 support - down from DDR2-1200, 1333MHz front-side bus speed, only one Gigabit connector - down from two, and 8 USB2.0 slots available - down from 10.
nForce 680i LT SLI will continue supporting the NVIDIA SLI multi GPU but it’s unknown if it will be compatible with the new Intel processors with Conroe refresh. Mainboards based on the new chipset will be available on the market from early March.
