Navman S90i review
Posted May 25th, 2008 by Alex IonIt’s true that most of the GPS devices nowadays seem to be very much alike, but there is something about the new Navman S90i - the cream of the S-series from Navman, that got my attention. With a stylish design, the basic specs are notable : text-to-speech technology, vivid interface, keyboard says letters out loud, preloaded speed and red light camera alerts, Bluetooth handsfree and a NavPix 2-megapixel camera.

The S90i is equipped with the popular SiRFstarIII GPS receiver is efficient, speedy and takes less than a minute to pick up a GPS signal, which is something I really enjoy when buying a GPS unit.
Another good point is that when you search for a specific address it filters suburbs by state, reducing the list of results to a manageable number. It can be as specific as a house number, intersection or to the centre of the street or city. However it’s not smart enough to track something down by postcode.
The S90i it’s packed with the WhereIS R14 maps and uses the SmartST 2008 navigation software that offer clear maps and precise voice instructions.
Pairing via Bluetooth is quick and easy, and there are a number of phone functions you can access through the menu: phonebook, SMS messages or your call log.
One last thing I like is that it has a pretty good battery that can last up to four hours (specs say five) on a full charge, but it has a big drawback. No AC adapter to charge it, only via USB or in your car.
