Sony RM-VL600 8-Device Universal Learning Remote
Posted August 17th, 2009 by simon

There is no denying that having half a dozen remote controls is irritating. Well this universal remote from Sony has a learning function and so it is capable of taking over from your current stack of remote controls. Most major brands are recognised and you just enter the code. This remote can handle up to eight separate devices. If there is a function on your old remote that doesn’t work via the code then you place the remotes head to head and use the old command and the Sony remote will learn it.
The RM-VL600 even supports four macro functions via the A, B, C, D buttons. Put the remote in learning mode and enter all the keystrokes you want, even across multiple devices. You can effectively program buttons to perform multiple tasks with a single touch. This is a great feature for quick movie set up. It has a decent range on it and takes two AA batteries. It lacks the advanced features of the market leading Logitech Harmony but it is also much cheaper. For under $20 this is a bargain.
