Imation have launched the Odyssey Removable Hard Disk Storage System for data safety. Be it for confidential data, for large or small companies, for a developer or a home user, for large volumes of data that need to be quickly and securely accessed and protected, this comes as one of the most important things nowadays.
Imation thought of all these and Odyssey Removable Hard Disk Storage System is doing the job. It uses a rugged disk cartridge that capacities from 40GB to 120GB which is used to back up like a tape drive. Consisting of 2 pieces the removable hard disk cartridge and the docking station which in fact is compatible with current and probably future capacities. It’s not for short term, but for medium or long.

The features of the Imation Odyssey are forward compatibility, shock protection withstanding 900 G-force shock, soft-load mechanism with unique load and eject mechanisms, EMC Retrospect software that features password protection, all these along with speed and convenience (up to 36MB/s transfer speeds).

It weights 858g and the docking station dimensions are 199 x 133 x 52 mm, while HDD cartridge weight is 160g with 126.5 x 81.5 x 21.2 mm. The cartridge has ESD protection up to 5000 volts and it has mechanical lock for switching the device to read-only. To connect it to the computer it will need an USB 2.0, USB 1.1 connection. There are 3 versions of the Imation Odyssey : 40GB ($249), 80GB ($299) and 120GB($349).
