HP’s TouchSmart PC Coming Soon
Posted January 17th, 2007 by Marius TrusculescuPC’s and PC technology is slowly moving from the office to the living room and this new product from HP is the newest addition to line of home entertainment computers. The TouchSmart is really a PC at its core running a version of Windows Vista, but the stylish design make it beautifully integrate anywhere in your home.
Although I first expected the computing capabilities of this device to be around your average computer, it turned out that HP had a surprise for us as the specifications of the TouchSmart are on the same level with the high-end computers available on the market. A dual-core AMD Turion 64 x2 processor benefits from the aid of no less than 2 GB of DDRAM2 memory in powering this beast. The storage capacity is offered by the 320 GB of the included hard drive, but if you run out of disk space you can also use the Super Multi Drive DVD writer as way to back-up and store data.
The NVIDIA GeForce Go 7600 graphics card with 256MB dedicated video memory is the one responsible with displaying the new eye-candy brought by the Windows Vista Aero interface. And speaking about the user interface I should mention that the 19″ widescreen LCD Display is also a touchscreen serving as a way to interact with the computer besides the wireless mouse, keyboard, stylus and the remote controller.
For those interested in buying the device now I have a bad news as no price is available yet and neither a release date, but I am sure we won’t have to wait too long for the announcement.
