USB 3.0 to be Sold in 2009, The Story Goes On!

Posted Thursday, November 22nd, 2007 by Alex Ion

USB connectorI’m not sure how you feel about USB connectors because I know it’s a pretty common thing these days but think a little bit what would have happened if we wouldn’t have it. Would we still use serial and parallel cables to transfer a movie or some vacation pictures? I guess not since the speed is not the best.

It all started with USB 1.0 which was very easy to connect but lacked on speed. Then, USB 2.0 (which we use today) came to increase transfer rates to up to 480Mbps and though we may think that’s enough right now, HD movies development and bigger and bigger files will make it a nightmare to use.

This is where USB 3.0 comes into picture to continue the successful story of Universal Serial Bus connectors with speeds up to 10 times faster, hitting 4.8Gbps. It’s supposed to be available in stores in 2009, while we get some specs about it early 2008. Will the story go on? Will USB 3.0 be as successful as those before? What do you think?

Apple anti-Caps-Lock Campaign on Their New Keyboards?

Apple anti-Caps-Lock Campaign on Their New Keyboards?

Yesterday I’ve heard some nice Apple news, from Jonathan Rentzsch, that said the new metallic keyboards (he bought one) have something against Caps Lock. The first thing that came into my mind was that this would be a manufacturing problem so I started to read about it and I found out that lots of people have the same problem.

To make it clear, the new Apple keyboards are taking ages and require a good bear press on the button to turn Caps Lock on, and will only need a you blow air upon it, to turn off. The matter was confirmed by so many other consumers so that brought me to the idea of an anti-Caps-Lock campaign that Steve Jobs is doing. I wonder if people scream at the office!
I am not saying that Caps Lock is a good thing, but if you think that you get to pay $47 for the wired version of the keyboard, and $79 for the wireless, wouldn’t you want all your keys to work perfectly?

Bose Computer MusicMonitor - speakers for your desktop

Posted Thursday, September 20th, 2007 by Alex Ion

Well I can tell you guys I am a fan of Bose and now I think they really made a product I will certainly buy. It looks like Bose thought of getting a small slice on the desktop speakers market with their new Bose Computer MusicMonitor, that boasts 25W and dimensions are 5 x 2 inch. They read the market really well because as announced by Bose’ business manager “the demand for smaller and better sound will never stop”. Release date is October 4th and if you want them, the price is $399.

iPhone Bluetooth Headset ready

Posted Tuesday, July 24th, 2007 by Alex Ion

iPhone Bluetooth Headset readyNews came in that the iPhone Bluetooth Headset is starting to kick in. A Flickr member, Nomad, have already seen it in an Apple store in Marlton, NJ and snapped pictures while unboxing it.

It comes in a black box that has the duo dock to charge both the iPhone and the headset at the same time and the travel charger to do it on the go. It also has a very nice feature : the magsafe connector, that allows to connect safely to the dock or to the cable. Another nice feature is that you get to see the charging status of the Bluetooth Headset directly on the iPhone if they are both seated in the dock.

Give Your Mouse A Bath!

Posted Thursday, July 12th, 2007 by Marius Trusculescu

Belkin washable mouseDo you consider your mouse needs a serious cleaning, but you are to lazy to carefully wipe it with a wet cloth? Well, Belkin has a solution, dump your old one and get their new washable mouse that you can even take with you under the shower.

Actually the device itself was designed to be water-resistant, because sometimes even the most careful person can spill a glass of Coke in front of their computer. If regular mouses would face a serious danger from such an event, Belkin’s product would not only be able to resist, but it would be able to withstand being hand-washed under a jet of water.

The 1200 dpi peripheral has a price of only $29.99 and it will be available starting August 2007 in the USA and at following dates for the rest of the world.
