Sony PS3 Has The Eye On You

Posted Thursday, April 26th, 2007 by Marius Trusculescu

A recent Sony announcement lets us know of a new accessory for the PlayStation 3: the Eye USB digital camera. Intended to ship this summer, the PlayStation Eye offers modest performances with a resolution of 320×240 pixels (QVGA) @ 120 fps.

However, Sony decided to throw a built-in microphone with the product together with an additional software CD that allows some photo editing for the PS3 owners. The camera is designed to cope with the low light environment for a better image while playing and this is pretty neat considering Sony announced the Eye will play an active role in m
No details concerning the pricing have been made public yet. However you shouldn’t expect a serious overpriced product even if Sony is looking for ways to diminish the money it looses with every console it sells. - Marius TRUSCULESCU -

CF-to-SATA Hard Drive Adapter Is What I Need

Posted Thursday, April 26th, 2007 by Alex Ion

I’ve been thinking that my 2 years old laptop (it’s a good one, don’t laugh at it) could use a new hard drive because I am going to buy myself the new Sony H9 when it releases, and those pictures are going to be pretty big.

CF-to-SATA Hard Drive Adapter

The CF-to-SATA adapter is the perfect solution. Just heard about it on Engadget and I think it rocks. You get to use any type of compact flash into the CF-to-SATA hard drive adapter and then connect it to your laptop just like a normal 2.5-inch SATA hard drive. The compact flash is seen like an ordinary drive and you can make it bootable if you need to install your system on, be it Windows, OS X or Linux.

Two more things I need to say. It supports DMA and Ultra DMA modes and only costs $35.99 if you think that a CompactFlash media is shock resistant and a low power consumer. I might buy one just now to test it and post the review here. - ALEX ION

Genius Traveler 355 Laser is the First Opto Mouse in the World

Posted Tuesday, April 24th, 2007 by Alex Ion

Genius Traveler 355 Laser is the First Opto Mouse in the WorldUsed with a scroll-wheel for your mouse? You can forget it because Genius Traveler 355 Laser claims to be the first Opto mouse in the world with a touch sensor that replaced the scroll wheel. I am not sure how well will this new solution be accepted because we have a mouse with no mechanical elements: only some plastics and a bunch of sensors.

It’s not yet available, so if you want to test the new Genius Traveler 355 you should wait until it will be released next month, and I guess we will see some reviews and get feedback on how good the Opto Mouse is. - ALEX ION

USB drives with Swarovski crystals from Philips

Posted Friday, April 13th, 2007 by Alex Ion

We always give you some interesting concepts for USB drives. Remember the sushi and stamp usb drives? It’s time for Philips, the market’s conservative to partner with Swarovski to create the crystal usb drive. Not sure if you can start wearing it instead of a necklace while at a cocktail party but I am sure you will have people going for your neck if worn. There’s not only one version but more crystal-clad exteriors.

The only problem I ca see now is taking your Philips-Swarovski USB drive and not accessorize your outfit to measure the price and the glamour while going out with your pals for a beer. All I need to do now is buy a gold TV set, a platinum laptop and I am prepared for my new active crystals USB that will launch in August. Don’t you think?

Usb stamp with 256MB from SolidAlliance

Posted Wednesday, April 11th, 2007 by Alex Ion

USB Stamp
SolidAlliance USB stamp

I saw it on Akihabara News and they call it the Geek Usb stamp. Not sure about the stamp functions this new gadget from SolidAlliance has, but you can store all your important documents that need to be stamped later. This is not the first time when the Japanese launch something like this. I browsed their website a little and I already felt hungry when I saw the sushi-like USB.

I am not sure if I can really stamp documents with it (if I think that I can’t eat the sushi above) but would be a real nice feature if they could combine USB flash memory with real stamping. The price is around $32 and you can buy it on SolidAlliance.

The Piggy Card Reader

Posted Wednesday, April 4th, 2007 by Mihnea Boiangiu

We don’t know why they chose the piggy-like design… However we like the idea of this card reader. For only $10, the Piggy Card Reader will help you to manage your data stored on memory cards. It supports a wide range of cards including: SD, CF, XD, MS, miniSD, T-flash/microSD.

The Piggy Card Reader

The device connects via USB cable to the PC. The little piggy has small dimensions 118×65x38mm and it weights 45g. It fits very well on your desk, but why didn’t they produced a bear-like reader? That’s an enigma.

Kingston DataTraveler is waterproof and highly secured

Posted Friday, March 30th, 2007 by Alex Ion

Waterproof Kingston DTS and DTSPKingston has two highly secured models for us, DataTraveler Secured (DTS) and DataTraveler Secured Privacy Edition (DTSP) that are designed to protect user data inextreme conditions. There are no signs of less performance, for these two USB 2.0 flash drives with up to 8GB storage capabilities, even they invested a lot to secure it the right way. Rugged and waterproof the new Kingston DTS or DTSP is not only physically secure but also hardware encrypted and has a password protocol, so if you lose it or you get robbed it will be useless for other.

Both models have titanium-coated stainless steel chassis, and are waterproof in accordance with the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) 60529 IPX8 standard, up to four feet water depth.

Dicota Beat - gaming on the road

Posted Wednesday, March 21st, 2007 by Mihnea Boiangiu

Dicota Beat is a mini gaming pad. How can it be useful? When you are in a plane for example and you want to play some arcade, this gadget could be a perfect choice. It weights only 1.76 ounces and measures 47 x 99 x 13 mm when unfolded. Thus, you won’t need to carry a joystick.

Dicota Beat

The Dicota gamepad was announced at CeBIT 2007 in Hannover. Despite it is so small, Dicota Beat offers vibration feedback, giving more realism to your games. Its case is made of rubber, so it won’t slip from your hand when in the middle of a “battle”. The mini gamepad costs €22.90, which is around $30.

Logitech QuickCam and QuickCam Deluxe for your laptop

Posted Friday, March 16th, 2007 by Alex Ion

Logitech QuickCam for notebook

Like always, when there is a technology fair everyone needs to launch something. That’s the case with Logitech that released the Quickam model and a Deluxe version of it, both having 1.3 megapixel sensors. When in video mode it provides 15 frames per second, up to 24-bit VGA and manual focus lens thanks to face-tracking software. Since all the common webcams don’t perform well in less lighted environments this is not the case with the new Logitech QuickCam which thanks to RightLight will picture you well, and thanks to RightSound it will suppress bad noises.

The new Logitech Quickcam and the Deluxe version will work just fine with Skype, MSN and Yahoo! Messenger, Vista and Aim. About the price this is really low from my point of view with the QuickCam at $39.99 and the Deluxe for $59.99. Release date is next month and check the pictures below. [via Gizmodo]
