Samsung SGH-a827

The new Samsung SGH-a827 Access was announced these days to be the first (of two) MediaFLO TV compatible GSM phone for AT&T, that the South Korean manufacturer has built. It’s a quad-band (850/900/1800/1900MHz) GSM mobile phone with 3G support that has some interesting features including stereo Bluetooth, stereo speakers, Wireless, microSD card slot and a 1.3 megapixel camera.

The candybar shaped cellphone comes with a 2.3-inch screen display that was optimized for better TV viewing and offers “exceptional” Mobile TV reception though it doesn’t have a whip antenna. Samsung SGH-a827 Access will also feature Video share, IM and mobile email.

AT&T will launch Mobile TV this year, in May, the same month when SGH-a827 Access will go on sale.

Samsung U940 on Its Way

Posted Friday, December 14th, 2007 by Mihnea Boiangiu

The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) has confirmed the testing for Samsung SCH-U940. The mobile phone will be probably released with Verizon Wireless.

Samsung U940

As I have said above, Samsung U940 will be compatible with Verizon’s CDMA and EVDO network. It is an American version of the F700 model. The phone sports a 3.2″ touchscreen and full QWERTY keyboard. It has a single key on the front panel, but the side-sliding unveils its keyboard.

Other features of this phone include a 2.0 megapixel camera, 150MB of internal memory, a microSD slot and Stereo Bluetooth. We cannot tell for sure the exact release date nor its price. But we should expect it somewhere in the first half of 2008.

Posted Tuesday, May 29th, 2007 by Alex Ion

The Olympic Games will take place in Beijing next year, but it looks like many sponsor tech companies are going to launch products before the opening. It’s a very good marketing idea so why not do it.
Samsung SGH-U308 also known as Samsung Beijing 2008 was unveiled at the China Beijing International High-Tech Expo 2007. It’s one year before, so give it time to see what features the new SGH-U308 has and what the price is, because this is something they haven’t released yet. Waiting!

The new Samsung SGH-i400 smartphone was recently showed to the media representatives last week at the S60 summit in Madrid, Spain.

“We are happy to introduce our new Symbian based smartphone SGH-i400 which follows the earlier release of SGH-i520, the first Symbian OS smartphone. We can provide a convenient mobile phone experience for our users by adopting Symbian S60.”

Featuring a 2.3” QVGA TFT display, the mobile phone is ideal for multimedia applications as it has built-in music and video playback, a 2 MP digital camera and two stereo speakers. Due to the use of the Symbian operating system additional applications can be easily downloaded and installed on the smartphone to satisfy various needs of the customers.

Samsung SCH i760 is approved by the FCC

Posted Monday, April 23rd, 2007 by Alex Ion

This is a message targeted to those enjoying mobile phones that live in the U.S. because we have news for you. The FCC approved Samsung i760 to be released in the States. Verizon has it in their garden and will be the one selling it. I think you would be more interested in some brief specs. Here we go!

Samsung i760 works on Windows Mobile 6 and comes with a slide-out QWERTY keyboard has Bluetooth 2.0 and EV-DO support. The slider puts the dialpad on a side and the keyboard under so that you don’t mistype. It’s a nice mobile phone that I think is very well suited as an intelligent phone and will do well when they start selling it this year in the USA. New launches from Samsung: U100, U300, U600 and U700

Samsung U100Samsung U300

Samsung came with fresh technology at 3GSM Congress in Barcelona. Samsung launched the new U series: U100 (picture above left), U300(above right), U600 and U700 (below).

The U100 looks very nice. It is only 6mm thin. That’s impressive! The phone has a 3.2 megapixel camera, Bluetooth, EDGE, multimedia features. But the main problem is the memory. The Samsung U100 doesn’t have a memory card slot and 70MB are not enough for such a phone.

What about Samsung U300? It is a clamshell about 9.6mm thin and features like U100 3.2 megapixel camera, EDGE, stereo Bluetooth, document viewer and MP3 player. Here the same problem - no expandable memory.

Samsung U600Samsung U700

The others, U600 and U700 are some cool sliders. Personally, I find those two more interesting like a clamshell. The U600 has the same features like U100 and U300, but it has a microSD card slot. The Samsung U600 is a quad-band phone and it measures 11mm thin.

The U700 model is a 3G device supporting high speed mobile broadband (HSDPA), so you can download data at up to 3.6Mbps. It also features an HTML browser. The other options are the same with U600.

Advice: If you want good battery life, you shouldn’t expect to much from these thin phones, because the battery life isn’t a key advantage of these mobiles.
