NEC is in the middle of a bigger scandal

Posted Wednesday, May 30th, 2007 by Alex Ion

NEC is in the middle of a bigger scandalIt’s true. Tax investigators from Japan announced that the financial schemes are true. A few NEC employees managed to fake orders for 2.2 billion yen ($18 million) that brought them kickbacks in the amount of 500 million yen ($4.1 million). It’s very bad news for the Japanese company because they already had to re-structure their financial reporting for 2006, three times now and could get delisted from Nasdaq because of that.
The company said that what happened is regrettable and they promised criminal proceeding against the employees found with fake kickbacks. Of course they will also seek compensation. How good is another scandal at NEC these days? Pretty good, I could say because the company’s domestic shares rose slightly when NEC came out with the regrets.

NEC N908 review

Posted Saturday, February 3rd, 2007 by Mihnea Boiangiu

NEC N908Two words: stylish and elegant. This is NEC N908. It comes with a spectacular slim design. NEC N908 has the size of a credit card weighting only 84g. It has a large 2.2″ touchscreen, but the resolution is only 240 x 320 pixels. Because the phone doesn’t feature a keyboard, you need to do all the operations using the stylus. That means it will take a little longer to make some calls.

N908 impresses with the slim design and the large touchscreen. Despite all this, the phone has some disadvantages. For example you need to remove the battery while you insert the microSD card. It has a 1.3 megapixel camera which could be better. Regarding the data transfer, N908 has Bluetooth and USB cable, but it doesn’t support EDGE technology. It also has a MP3 player. If the internal memory of 31MB isn’t enough for you, the package contains a 128MB microSD card. The price for N908 is around $330.
