The P535 PDA Phone

Posted Wednesday, February 28th, 2007 by Marius Trusculescu

We continue presenting the line of PDA phones by Asus with another GPS enabled device that is ready to take you anywhere with explicit voice commands and turn-by-turn directions. Besides being a navigation device and a mobile phone the P535 is also a PDA with impressive features just like the P735, Pegasus concept or the A686/A696 PDAs.

Powered by a 520 MHz processor, the P535 has 64 MB of SDRAM, 256 MB of flash memory and a miniSD expansion slot. Being able to connect to a computer using either USB 1.1 or Bluetooth 2.0 protocol, the device also supports WiFi 802.11 b/g connectivity. Using this feature a multitude of internet applications are available: email, internet browser or even Skype telephony.

Asus’s PDA phone is running Windows Mobile operating system which incorporates a Mobile Office suite for viewing and even editing Microsoft Office files. The OS also features multimedia support by enabling video and audio playback. You can create your own pictures and videos thanks to the 2 MP built-in digital camera that can capture video at QVGA resolution (320 × 240 pixels) @ 30 fps.

The phone division of Asus is more and more present on the handset market and they usually deliver great products. It is the case of the new J501 too, which brings a lot of features in this stylish new device.

Asus J501 Mobile Phone Slide OutIf the design of the phone doesn’t impresses you there are still enough reasons for thinking of buying the J501Asus J501 Mobile Phone mobile phone. First of all there is a 2.0 MP digital camera with autofocus function to take beautiful pictures and after view them on the pretty large 2.2″ 260k colors LCD display. As in all new mobile phones the MP3 playback is included along with an FM radio tuner and video playback support for MPEG4 files. It is obvious the 5 MB of memory doesn’t support the multimedia aspirations behind the J501, but Asus introduced an expansion slot for MicroSd cards so users can upgrade the storage capcity for up to 2 GB.

To increase the functionality of the device Asus offers USB and Bluetooth connectivity, and while connected trough the USB port the J501 can be used as a webcam as well. As an extra function, users also have the possibility of making phone calls trough Skype while connected to a computer via Bluetooth, although a WiFi 802.11 would have done better at making this a true Skype phone.

ASUS P735 With Incorporated GPS Navigation

Posted Tuesday, January 23rd, 2007 by Alex Ion

Asus news last few days were only set on mobile phones. Now it seems that they are announcing more and more and looks like all their new products have GPS navigation incorporated. Just like the Asus Pegasus and A686 and A696 PDAs, the new phone from Asus, P735 model has GPS enabled. However this new mobile is unlike the P526 (Pegasus) this one is 3G/UMTS, the first PDA phone on the Taiwanese market with these features.

Why should you buy it? The nice looks and the fact that you will have the right track every time you want. Under testing so far and without a keyboard but with touchscreen navigation help, the new Asus P735 will launch in March.

Asus Z801 karaoke is a piece of jewelry

Posted Monday, January 22nd, 2007 by Alex Ion

A few days back when I had my eyes on the new Asus Pegasus PDA phone I thought wow this is something that would be hard beaten. Now look at Asus again. They’ve launched the new piece of jewelry, the Asus Z801. Not sure if it’s the pictures that make us think of it as luxurious stuff but honestly it’s a very cool fashionable mobile phone.

Asus Z801 karaoke

Designed as an accessory to your clothes maybe, with the sapphire crystal screen, a strong stainless steel chassis and leather inserts on the front. It’s a 2.5G phone, quadband with Bluetooth A2DP, with a 2 megapixel camera. Plays MP3, MPEG4 and AAc files, has a QVGA screen with 240×320 dots, built-in 64MB memory and features a microSD slot.
You like what you’ve heard so far, huh? Here’s some more. It has a built-in karaoke feature. Now the bad part: it’s only available in Taiwan, so far. Let’s hope for it in our nearby stores with our carriers.

ASUS Pegasus PDA phone

ASUS Pegasus PDA Phone

Asus haven’t announced much details of their newly launched Pocket PC, Pegasus, but it seems like it has similarities with their P525 smart-phone, but of course with some improvements. It’s 0.6-inch thick, it has built-in GPS and a camera with no specifications now. Those from iF Design Rewards are the first to enjoy a view of the new Pegasus.

UnwiredView have 2 pictures of the phone and have some more information including the fact that it’s based on Windows Mobile. We consider it has a business design, for a business man, with a big screen display. We don’t have more details about it, no release date and no price tag, but we sure hope to get them soon.
