Sony PRS-700 Reader with touchscreen

Posted Friday, October 3rd, 2008 by Alex Ion

I haven’t used an ebook reader so far, but what Sony has for us this time … sounds great. Sony has been improving their software lately to work with more booksellers so they had to come up with a new hardware from their PRS-500, right? So they did …

Sony PRS-700 Reader was just announced and the big deal is that it’s going to feature a 6-inch touchscreen display, LED reading light (if you can’t sleep and want to read) plus an on-screen keyboard that allows searching and note-taking. Other than that, it will feature the same specs : internal storage for 350 books, an SD and MS-Duo expansion slot plus the 7500 page-turns battery life.

Anyone wonders what the price will be? I bet it’s going to be close to $400, but we’ll have more info in a couple of weeks.

The guys at the Wall Street Journal are sure that in a few months HP Oak will debut in Europe and will be sold by a carrier in retail stores. Some other rumors say that Vodafone will take lead and will probably sell it in retails stores.

People close to HP said that the Oak has a large screen and feels solid, but has a “bad” navigation key that doesn’t feel very comfortable. They still have time to change it a bit.

Style Retro: Minox Rolleiflex AF 5.0 Digicam

Memories. The new Rolleiflex AF 5.0 digicam sure takes me back in time a little bit. Aight? Though it looks just like its (really) old predecessor, you’ll have to take my word for it that it has modern technology inside. It’s a very good replica of the world famous Rolleiflex, but only half the size of the original.

The new Rolleiflex AF 5.0 digicam come with a 5 megapixel sensor, has a miniSD slot and an LCD screen. Starting this month it should be available in two colors. You’ll pay $460 for the black version and $506 for the red one.

HTC Advantage X7510

Though HTC hasn’t been kind to give us a release date or a price, a few retailers managed to sign their deals and offer it for pre-orders. Prices are pretty different starting from $800 at GearTrade and goes up to $1,300 at Smart Mobile Gadgets and On The Go Solutions. Funny thing is that Engadget managed to spy things up with Google Product Search and they managed to find the HTC Advantage X7510 selling for $550 (but there’s a blank page at the end).

Rumors say that the most likely price is $800, but we’ll have to wait until we get something official from HTC.

Meanwhile here are the specs :
