Posted Thursday, June 5th, 2008 by Alex Ion

 Newman Cool Man mp3 player

If you haven’t quite reached your flair quota, or you are hopelessly stuck in the 1980’s fashion-wise here’s the COOL MAN, Newman’s new MP3 player.Perhaps the most interesting thing about the COOL MAN is that you can clip it on using a safety pin. To my suit? Right?

The “Button MP3? plays WMA and MP3 files, has cute buttons below the OLED monochrome display. Rumors say that it will come with 1GB of memory and with a cheap price. Otherwise, we’re not really interested. Are you?

Americans Don’t Read Their Gadget’s Manuals?

Posted Tuesday, June 3rd, 2008 by Alex Ion

reading tech manualAlmost 95% of the American population tends to skip the part where they read the tech manuals of the gadgets they buy or at least that’s what researchers found out by taking a closer look at what gets returned due to malfunctions.

Complaints get filed and $13 billion in products get returned every year, apparently for not working but only 5% have real technical issues. Most of the gadgets are returned because they don’t meet the satisfaction level of the customer or because they are so complex that it’s too confusing to use them.

Sources believe that this trend could be related to the complexity or the hidden nature of gadgets these days and not because Americans don’t read the manual on how to set it up correctly. It could also be due to the fact that the reading habit is slowly decreasing?

Promotional products from Empire Promos

Posted Wednesday, May 21st, 2008 by Alex Ion

Ever had a problem with choosing a gift for a business partner? I’m in the tech biz as you probably know so the first thing I could think are tech gift items when I need to please a geek partner.

Promotional Electronics

EmpirePromos is a company specialized in promotional products, with the largest selection of imprinted computer accessories, eco-friendly promos, executive gifts, promotional bags and trade show giveaways. The thing I like most about is that the prices are extremely good.

Based in Manhattan, they’ve been actively serving accounts in financial services, health care, media, nonprofit, advertising, cultural affairs and home and industrial furnishings fields. Our client roster includes extensive work with major corporations including American Express, Barnes & Noble, Citicorp, Prudential, United Nations, MTV, Oppenheimer Funds, Universal Motown Records, Young & Rubicam and Fleet Bank. These are great references.

My favorite best are their promotional electronic products. Take a look and let us know.

Solar Bra, For Green Ladies?

Posted Friday, May 16th, 2008 by Alex Ion

Solar Bra

To all ladies reading, you might as well forget about Victoria Secret because Triumph International is in the house! This daring manufacturer from Japan has designed probably the most useless piece of clothes ever: the Solar Brasserie.

The Bra generates electricity and can display small messages because it is wired to a mini electric bulletin board. That’s not a joke and it gets even better. The bra padding can be used to store water or vodka or whiskey and to drink it by using a straw that you insert inserted into the brasserie cup.

If there are any thoughts running through your mind about pollution or the ozone layer, you must breathe easier now because the brasseries is made of organic cloth (cotton grown without fertilizers and pesticides) only.

Now for you boys, enjoy the pictures and fantasize about it, if you can.

The magic fishbowl, with fake fish

Posted Tuesday, May 13th, 2008 by Alex Ion

A pet is a great responsibility for anyone, but there are a few people that developed no such skills and the results are many times tragic.

Fake Fish Fishbowl

An aquarium is even harder to maintain because it involves a lot of comittement and work. This new fish bowl, the magic fishbowl, enlightens your office and you won’t have to worry about feeding your colored fish which will swim and play all day long.

Did I mention that you won’t even have to clean the aquarium? All you have to do is to add water inside and place it on the special slate-look resin base. It is powered by 2 AA batteries and when you turn it on from the on/off switch the little creatures will start swimming.

If you worry about the space, then you must know that the bowl measures 3″ high x 3″ diameter, resin base is 4.25″ long x 3.5″ wide x 1.5″ tall and the fish are approximately 1.25″ long. One of them is Pixar’s Nemo because it’s a clown fish, while the other is … not that happy. It’s blue.

If you want one, the price is $14.99 on OfficePlayground.

Crystals backlit by LEDs - That’s How You Make a Watch

Posted Friday, April 11th, 2008 by Alex Ion

Crystal LED Watch ZIMA

Something I always wished for. A watch with crystals that are backlit by LEDs. How fancy would it be and what friends will say, I let you be the judge of it. Designed by Ilya Yakovlev and inspired by the Swarovsky Signity watches the Crystal LED Watch has an interesting feature: you can adjust the color and luminosity to suit your mood. I can’t say for sure if someone will produce it (though I see a ZIMA logo) but I’m pretty confident is going to cost a lot of dough.

Hot Legs Getting Electric Socks

Posted Monday, March 31st, 2008 by Alex Ion

Electric heated socks

The electric socks were designed to keep North Atlantic fishermen warm but I think we could use them, too. The socks are a mix between wool and polyester, with a few wires and resistors going down to under the ball of the foot. It’s actually some sort of battery-powered-heating beyond weirdness that will cost you $22 if you want it.

We’re waiting for the electric undies to keep the “guys” warm.

The Stripping Matryoshka Doll

Posted Sunday, March 30th, 2008 by Alex Ion

stripping matryoshka doll

Do you remember the “40 year old virgin” doll? Following the trend here is a new one, but it’s probably not really safe for work. It’s a stripping Matryoshka doll, yes those dolls that decrease in size and are placed one inside another. It’s not really like playing strip-poker but it’s funny to buy as a gift for your boss, if he has a sense of humor.

The price is $76.21.

Posted Saturday, March 29th, 2008 by Alex Ion

Sarpaneva Korona K3

No these are not watches to take with you on the Moon (when it will be available). These are just some funny designed bas-relief double moonphase watches by Sarpaneva. I think what they managed to come up with, is pretty ingenious. These are pictures of the Korona 2 and Korona 3, that will be produced any time soon. We will keep you updated if you like them.
