Posted Friday, March 16th, 2007 by Mihnea Boiangiu

The Sanyo 42LM4WPR-E (the code is just for the record) is a waterproof LCD TV. The 42″ display was presented at CeBIT this year. The weatherproof TV is ideal for interior or exterior environments. The screen is HD ready and features one HDMI input. Here are some specs: 1.366 x 768 resolution, 500 cd/m² brightness and 800:1 contrast.
This could be a perfect solution for outdoor viewing. You won’t be troubled about the coming rain and the water effects over the electronic devices, because the Sanyo TV works fine in humidity conditions. Check the picture below, which was taken at CeBIT. The TV seems to have no problems. However, a few water spots won’t harm the display, but it will get damaged if in use under water. The price could go around €5700.

Bamboo LCD TV?!

Posted Friday, March 9th, 2007 by Mihnea Boiangiu

The 19″ bamboo LCD TV is a great option for home entertainment. It is environmentally friendly because the entire case is made of bamboo. The exception are the buttons in the front. The device has 1440 x 900 resolution, 700:1 contrast ratio and 8ms response time.

Now you have a better reason to renew your TV - the environment protection because the wood 100% recyclable. Bamboo is a fast growing plant, usually harvested between 6 to 12 months. In addition, there will be less plastics in the nature. Priced at $475, the bamboo TV represent a great innovation in my opinion.

Samsung SyncMaster 940UX will be USB only

Posted Wednesday, February 21st, 2007 by Alex Ion

Samsung will bring at CeBIT next month, the new SyncMaster 940UX, a 19-inch LCD monitor that dumps the DVI and VGA connectors and is going to be USB only. Why USB only? Because via USB is the easiest way to connect or disconnect your device, plug it in when you need it, or take it out when you don’t. Another reason is the multiple LCD monitors connected at the same time, which will not require multiple graphics cards for each one.

Samsung SyncMaster 940UX will be USB only

However there is a small debate on how will the graphic processing is going to be done and rumors say the CPU will take that job which brings more questions in the air. Will the computer have less performance when connecting two or three monitors, will it fail in those demanding applications? Samsung says no, and they claim three monitors for multimedia and five for less intensive working will not slow down your machine. These questions will be answered at CeBIT when we will know if the solution is to use an external USB video card or just let it go like that. Release date is set for May, to come with Windows XP drivers at first and followed by Vista after.
